COVSUPPORT WIN AT UPTON PARK
COVSUPPORT NORTHERN IRELAND 4-2 MYTON RAINBOW AT WEST HAM UNITED 27/05/09
Covsupport Northern Ireland avenged a 4-3 defeat to Myton Rainbow at the Ricoh Arena last year with a 4-2 victory last night.
At a plush Upton Park Stadium in a game of sixty minutes each way to give all the players as much time as possible, it was the Coventry Sunday League side who took the lead in the 23rd minute with a header from a corner.
This had come seconds after an absolutely brilliant save by the Myton keeper. However, Kev Monks' side were level in the 31st minute thanks to Ally Beck, heading home from a Brian Adair cross.
This was a highly entertaining affair and three minutes after equalising Covsupport were in front thanks to a stunning strike from Ian Weir who ghosted in from the right.
Nine minutes before the interval, Covsupport went 3-1 up when Ryan Moffatt headed home from an Adair cross. Any thoughts that this game was over were quickly dismissed as Myton scored in the 56th minute.
Covsupport had the better of the second half although they were indebited to their keeper Niall Currie who pulled off three tremendous saves and with half an hour left, Man Of The Match Brian Adair wrapped with the victory with a header.
After the match, a delighted Kev Monks said: "Anyone who watched this match would have really enjoyed it. "To play on such a top ground was amazing and an experience both sets of players and management will treasure. He added: "I was very proud of everyone of our players and well done to Myton who are an excellent side. "Our effort and committment tonight was superb. We chased everything with the likes of Andy Smith, Glen Waddell, Brian Adair and Bernie Doyle bossing the game all led by Captain Andy Bell."

FISHER HIT FOR SIX BY COVSUPPORT
JOHN FISHER FC 2-6 COVSUPPORT NORTHERN IRELAND BY KEV MONKS AND ZIAD CHAUDHRY
Covsupport Northern Ireland won their second consecutive game with a 6-2 win against John Fisher at Charlton Athletic.
Kev Monks side needed only six minutes on a cold damp evening at The Valley to take the lead.
Andy Bell, who scored the opening goal of Covsupport's last game at Highfield Road, opened the scoring when he superbly lofted the ball high into the net from the edge of the area.
With Wllie Herron superb at the back, the team of City supporters went further ahead in the 24th minute through an Ally Beck strike.
Beck, voted the Covsupport Man Of The Match, raced through to score this second on Covsupport's third.
Three became four a minute later when a handball was spotted by the referee. Youngster Jonnie Watson thumped home the first kick but was ordered to take it again. The keeper got a hand to it but could not prevent Watson's penalty from finding the back of the net.
John Fisher who play their football in the London AFA League pulled one back. But on the stroke of half-time,Ally Beck completed a first half hat-trick cutting inside and beat the keeper on his near post.
At the break,Monks sent on John McAdam who had recovered from keyhole surgery only eight weeks ago. McAdam slotted in well in a Covsupport side that was working hard, defending when necessary and attacking in numbers.
It was one of those attacks which led to a sixth goal in the 51st minute. A superb corner from Ally Beck fell for Andy Bell whose sweetly hit shot went into the net.
Kev Monks tactic of giving everyone the maximum of time on the pitch meant plenty of substitutions and a loss at times of fluidity.
With fifteen minutes left, Fisher scored for the second time in what was a very sporting contest thanks to young keeper Connor Rippon mistiming an attempted back pass from Brian Adair to gift Martin Hubbard with an easy tap in.
There were no more goals in the now pouring rain and an enjoyable match was followed by a few jars together afterwards.

COVSUPPORT NI IN ACTION 24/06/06
Covsupport Northern Ireland were in action today in the Dromore 5 a sides at Ferris Park in Dromore,Northern Ireland. Covsupport who were without a number of players fielded a squad comprising of David Dawson (keeper),Ian McDowell,Ian Weir, Ally Beck, Andrew Bell, Colly Gray and Ryan McCauley who were managed by Stephen Adair.
With the top side from each of the four groups of four sides progressing into the semi-final and then final, Covsupport playing in City's black away kit from last season, won their opening game 4-0 before beating DRFC 3-2 after being three goals ahead.
The final game of the group saw Covsupport beat Banbridge AFC 3-0 with goals from Andy Bell,Ryan McCauley and Ally Beck booking the team's place in the Semi-Finals.
The draw was the one Stephen Adair did not want, Covsupport were pitted against Banbridge Town who fielded four Irish League players. Covsupport took the lead early on with a Andrew Bell strike, and were holding on well until the last few minutes when sloppy balls were given away in defence allowing Banbridge town to score twice with no time for a reply. Ally Beck missed at least 3 good chances to secure the win which just wasn't to be.
"We were extremely unlucky," said Acting Covsupport boss Stephen Adair after the tournament which was won by Banbridge Town who beat Tandragee Rovers 7-0 in the final. "Nerves seemed to get to some of the younger players in the Semi-Final. "Overall, there was plenty to be pleased with."
More news on Covsupport NI FC will appear here over the season.

COVSUPPORT NORTHERN IRELAND 5-2 CLEO'S ALL STARS BY KEV MONKS
"You could not have scripted this better," said Covsupport Northern Ireland manager Kev Monks after their 5-2 victory over Cleo's All Stars. Having raised sponsorship for eighteen players, fly over from the Province in tracksuits, arrive in shirts and ties, stop in the Royal Court Hotel, travel to Highfield Road on the official team coach, Covsupport showed no signs of being over awed by being on the hallowed Highfield Road turf. They were ahead inside eight minutes when a forty yard pass from Neil Adair was collected by striker Andy Bell. All stars keeper Kevin Dremer raced out,the ball deflected off him and fell to Bell to tap into the empty net. Bell dedicated the goal to manager Kev Monks but the side managed by Stuart Linnell cancelled it out within two minutes when a Craig Freer corner was knocked in by Tim Emery at the far post. This was a blood and guts affair with tackles flying in from two very competitive sides. Dave Charnley who has considerable non-league and local experience wasted a glorious eleventh minute chance to put his side ahead before Covsupport defender Willie Herron nodded an Ally Beck free kick wide some six minutes later. Both sides made numerous changes throughout the open period with Monks replacing six players on the half hour mark including Adrian Scott who had played despite suffering from a broken toe picked up in a training session on Saturday and having his toe frozen by physio Steph Coles before the game. Save of the match came in the 32nd minute when Dremer dived to his left to push away a curling shot from Andy Bell. In the 37th minute, the players from Northern Ireland regained the lead and Ally Beck kept his cool to race through and comfortably slot the ball into the net. Back came the All Stars which comprised of a number of experienced players and substitute Tunde was first to a Davie Watson kick out. The pacy forward cut inside before finishing with a low drive.
The goals in this entertaining affair continued to come with Alan Weir putting Covsupport back into the lead when he dispossessed Dremer and tucked the ball into the net from close range. The goal lifted the Ulstermen and Ryan McAuley missed four chances before one of the biggest City supporters in Northern Ireland and Loughgall FC midfielder Brian Adair realised one of his ambitions when he scored at Highfield Road by driving home after breaking through the All Stars defence in the 77th minute. Delighted by this goal for the skipper who had organised this game and to whom it means so much, those supporting Covsupport in a reasonable crowd including supporters from Worcester and South Wales, were on their feet again in the 80th minute. This time, a mistake by Dremer was punished by Andy Bell who was in the right place to score Covsupport's fifth from eight yards.
After a tough encounter which was greeted by handshakes all round on the final whistle blown by referee Pete Maton, Brian Adair who was named as Covsupport Player Of The Match said: It has been absolutely unbelievable to play at Highfield Road. The day we have had has been superb. "I've been coming over for a long time and for me to go out there to not only play but score a goal like I've scored with friends and Kev Monks as manager means the world to me. "To come here for a bit of banter was one thing but we knew deep down that we had to come and win for Covsupport News Service who have been brilliant in the service they have provided to us. "I never thought my goal was going to come after I'd been substituted and then brought back on. It just opened up and I ran on and jinked it past the keeper with a world class celebration. I'm happy, very happy".
Andy Bell who picked up the Covsupport vote for Man Of The Match said: "I came over here to do a job and I said I would not let a certain person down and I don't think I did. "It was a privilege to play on Highfield Road, especially with it being one of the last games and it makes it even better to come away with a good win. "The opposition were very tight and I thought the game opened up quite a bit in the second half. We took it to them a bit more but all credit to them they were good opposition. "
